Keylong
- Kaza (175km/8hrs/12000ft.). Take a packed B'fast & leave
for Kaza at 6:00am. The road carries you over the Kunzum Pass (4551mtrs).
Geologically & archeologically, Kaza is a living museum. The
mountains are devoid of any vegetation & erosion by wind, sun
& snow over thousands of years has laid the rocks bare. The
rugged & rocky mountain slopes sweep down to the riverbeds giving
the landscape a moon-like appearance. You may drive to Chandratal
Lake. The road takes you to about 02km of the lake, further on you
trek, return to your car & drive to Kaza. Overnight in Kaza

Kaza.
After B'fast, checkout & visit Ki & Kibber monasteries.
Ki Gompa is the largest in the valley & perched up a very steep
mountain. Fine murals & a valuable collection of Kangyur, ancient
Buddhist texts are its attractions. No photography is allowed inside.
Ki has a Buddhist festival in June & July. The Gompa was partially
damaged by an earthquake but has been restored. It also houses the
largest number of Buddhist monks & nuns. |

built for Lord Duffrin & designed by Henry Irwin + Capt. HH
Cole in an Elizabethan or English Renaissance Style; The Christ
Church (1844), the oldest in India, designed by Col. JT Boileau
& consecrated in 1857 & later extended with the addition
of a clock + porch. Lockwood Kipling, father of Rudyard, designed
the original chancel window. Walking on the Mall, you come to the
library, designed by James Ransome. All the walks are lined with
magnificent pines & cedars, giving a beautifully fresh scent

Shimla
- Ramgarh Fort via Chail (75km). After B'fast, leave for
Shimla, via Chail. Chail is a few hundred feet above Shimla &
a thickly forested hamlet. Maharaja of Patiala created it, after
he was expelled from Shimla in 1893, on account of "getting
overexcited". The highest cricket ground (2444m) is also built
here. You can see the Choor Chandni peak from one side of the cricket
