| "The ineffable fascination of modern India is a product of the complexity of it's many ages of coexistent reality". The western half of the Gangetic plain, from the region around Delhi, eastwards to Benares and Patna have been known as the heart of India, where her classical culture was formed, from the times of the Aryan conquest to the contemporary age. |
The Indian traditions have been preserved, without a break down to the present day, passed on orally by the Brahamanic bard, as sacred poetic hymns, till the time these were finally composed into the great epics called 'Vedas'. Gradually the nomadic pastoralism gave way to territorial kingdoms, entities to be conquered for their riches & mutual antagonism, bringing in its wake the Greeks, Scythians, the Turks, the Moghuls & finally the British. Each conqueror was in turn, seduced by India's beauty & wisdom! |
The 'Flavours of India 2011', takes you through this historic-cultural heart of India.
