Delhi. After B’fast, leave for full day sightseeing at 9:00am; to include a visit to the India Gate, a war memorial to the one million Indian & British soldiers, who died fighting in the great war & strikingly similar to one in Paris; Chandni Chowk in a rickshaw, the business center of old Delhi, Sis Ganj, a Sikh temple, constructed to commemorate the sacrifice of the 9th Sikh apostle, defying Islamic religious bigotry. Jama Masjid. Proceed wherefrom, to the Qutab Minar, the twin brother of the Gerald Towers (Spain), constructed in 1199, to mark the Eastern spread of Islam. The beauty of this Minar is breath taking. New Delhi – Agra (130miles). At 9:00am, drive to Agra. On arrival, visit Fort Agra, a massive red sandstone structure, associated closely with Mughal & British History, in India. It is a World Heritage Monument. Standing on the river Yamuna, was seat of government, of the most powerful Empire’s the world has seen. The architectural beauty of this fort is seen to be believed. Agra – Bharatpur (35miles). At 6:00am, go to visit the Taj Mahal. Checkout after B’fast & visit Fatehpur Sikri, one of the world heritage cities. It was a dream object of the Great Mughal, Akbar, who wanted to reconcile, the apparently irreconcilable, Hinduism to Islam. The quietude of this place is stunning, as the old guide recites his romantic Urdu couplets! Wherefrom, proceed to Bharatpur and visit the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary, famous for Royal wildfowling during days of princely India. Dinner & overnight at Laxmi Vilas Palace (Heritage).

8:00pm. Go to the restaurant in the Rambaug Palace Hotel. This Palace Hotel was the residence of Maharaja of Jaipur & Maharani Gayatri Devi, who was declared the most beautiful women in the forties by American magazine – ‘The Vogue”. Awesome ambience. Dress code: smart casuals.

Jaipur – Samode – Mandawa (100miles). B’fast at leisure & proceed to Castle Mandawa, where you shall be staying overnight. On the way, visit the Samode Palace which has a grand ‘Durbar Hall’. Mandawa falls in the heart of ‘Shekhvati’ region, that has given India some of the best business houses. These businessmen are called ‘Marwaris’ and have been extravagant patrons of art. Many built grand patrician houses, elaborately decorated with murals depicting scenes from myths, epics, folklore etc. Dinner & overnight in Castle Mandawa.

Dinner in the ruins of the old palace under torches burning to give an Arabian night’s ambience. Overnight. |

Jaisalmer has a typical medieval feel with its crenellated golden sandstone walls, narrow streets lined with exquisitely carved buildings – Salim Singh-ki-haveli, Nathumal’s haveli & Patwon-ki-haveli, which you shall visit. This evening dinners shall be served on the sand dunes amidst song & dance performances by local artists. Overnight in your hotel. |

Jodhpur. After B’fast, visit the Mehrangarh Fort. The fort was built on the advice of a pious hermit & overlooks the blue city. It houses several palaces, cannons, temples & museum. Visit Jaswant Thada, a richly carved white marble cenotaph of Maharaja Jaswant Singh, the brave Rajput king of Jodhpur. This evening visit Umaid Bhawan Palace, designed by HV Lanchaster. Avers Tillotson, ‘The finest example of Indo-Deco…the bland monochrome of the stone makes the eye concentrate on their carved shapes’. The views of the Mehrangarh Fort are stunning. Jodhpur – Ranakpur – Kumbhalgarh (169miles). After B’fast drive to Ranakpur, after visiting the Mehrangarh Fort. On arrival visit the ancient Jain Temples. The temples date back to 15th century has 29 halls supported by 1444 pillars, none of which impedes the view of the deity. It abounds with intricate friezes & sculptures. Dinner & overnight at Kumbhalgarh Hotel Aodhi.

Kumbhalgarh – Udaipur (44miles). After B’fast, visit the Kumbhalgarh fort & leave for Udaipur. The road passes through some most beautiful sceneries of Rajasthan. You shall see farmers ploughing fields with oxen, little girls taking lunch baskets for their parents & irrigation done with the Persian wheel! The temples of Ekling ji, the presiding deity of Mewar family lies on the way, which shall be visited. Arrival in Udaipur by noon. Check into Hotel Shikarbari (Heritage). The hotels is the erstwhile hunting lodge of the Maharanas of Mewar, has a stud farm & an airstrip. You may still feed the wild animals, if you please! |

Udaipur. . Full day sightseeing tour of the city palace museum, one of the best in India, Crystal Gallery, Maharanas vintage car garage which houses some of the rarest Rolls Royses & a boating tour around the white marble Lake Palace Hotel. At 6:30pm, we shall go & watch some scintillating Indian classical dance at Meera Kala Mandir (Center of Performing Arts). The ambience, history & locale of your stay, make Udaipur a tourist heaven.
